Parent Communication

http://www.luckylittlelearners.com/2015/05/communication-with-families.html
This month I'm linking up to discuss parent communication. I will say my parents appreciate the systems I've put into place to keep them informed about their child's education.

1) Weekly Newsletter- every Monday students take home a newsletter in their folder. As you can see I let parents know what we're learning that week, important dates, notes and homework.

2) Classroom Website- every weekend I update the classroom website with the weekly newsletter above and important dates. I have information about our classroom (wish list, birthdays, classroom management plan), math study guides and links to practice pages, as well as Social Studies and Science study guides and study cards.

3) Parent Emails- In addition to the hard copy newsletter and classroom website. I occasionally send emails to the parents about items and events I feel need to be communicated directly and then I put it in the newsletter and on the website.

  1. Jessica,
I love your newsletter. Is it available on The Teaching Oasis or is it something you created just for your class? Thank you for sharing your ideas!

    1. I hadn't thought about sharing my newsletter template. Maybe I will create a set for the Teaching Oasis to share. Thanks for the idea, I can probably have that done soon.

  4. I absolutely adore everything about your blog and all those fun printables and worksheets! Did you draw them yourself or do you use some kind of a program?? They are well done! Your students are lucky to have you as their teacher! :)

    1. I purchase my graphics from Teachers Pay Teachers, my favorite artists are Krista Wallden, Melonheadz and Graphics from the Pond. I use Microsoft Powerpoint to make all my printables. It's easier to manipulate the graphics and text on the page and duplicate pages when necessary.

  10. I tried opening the weekly newsletter in your shared google drive documents. However, it doesn't seem to be giving me an option to edit it. Can you email me a copy that can be edited?
